DESCRIPTION:Details: \nFood producers and sustainable food-system advocates from four continents will talk about their challenges and successes\, and converse with the audience about building community resilience through local food action. \n ————————- \nParticipants:  \nColombia: Jakeline Romero Epiayu & Miguel Rameriz Boscan (Fuerza de Mujeres Wayuu) \nJordan Aysheh Azzam\, Fatima Obeidat\, Imad Alqur’an  (Jordanian community and UN agencies) \nSouth Africa Josephine Mathebula and Mphephu Mtsenga  (community farm organization) \nT’Sou-ke Nation Chief Gordon Planes and Christine George (T’Sou-ke Food Sovereignty strategy) \nResearchers from UVic\, U de Antioquia\, and Virginia Tech\n(Participant list subject to change) \n————————-\nThis event was organized by Dr. Elizabeth Vibert with support from the Gustavson School of Business\, UVic’s Department of Hispanic & Italian Studies\, UVic’s Department of History\, UVic’s Faculty of Humanities\, UVic’s Department of Latin American Studies\,  UVic’s School of Public Administration\, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada\, UVic’s Department of Visual Arts\, And UVic’s Centre for Global Studies.  \nElizabeth Vibert is an historian at the University of Victoria whose research focuses on gender\, poverty\, colonialism\, and food systems. She is director of the SSHRC-funded research project “Four Stories About Food Sovereignty: Transnational Crises and Local Action\,” which draws together food producers and researchers from four continents to examine historical and contemporary food crises\, and community responses in an era of climate crisis. She co-produced and wrote the award-winning documentary film The Thinking Garden (2017)\, and has written or edited three books and numerous articles on colonial history\, Indigenous-settler relations\, and South African history.
